Oh what words we write
swirling in our minds,
Like autumn's leaves
on a crisp black pond,
Sinking into the darkness
as our words will be forgotten.
Oh the things we will speak
phrases flowing from our mouths,
Dripping from our tongues
soothing some, burning others,
Like acid eating at their heads
wrecking where their words first formed.
Oh what time we'll waste
staring in the mirror,
Wondering what will change
and what will stay the same,
Holding on to memories
that have long faded away.
